Position: Assistant Editor of Russian Conservation News, Center for Russian
Nature Conservation
Location: Moscow, Russia
Brief job description: Russian Conservation News is an English-language
quarterly bulletin about the conservation of biodiversity in Russia and
northern Eurasia. The Assistant editor is involved in all aspects of
production, from planning to research, writing, editing, and some
translating. Candidates for this position must have a passion for
environmental issues in Russia, must enjoy working with people but be able
to work independently, must be creative and innovative, and must be willing
to live in Moscow for at least one year. Additionally, the candidate must
have the following qualifications: University degree (B.A. or B.S.),
preferably in natural sciences, environmental studies and/or Russian
studies; Fluency or near fluency in spoken and written Russian; native
English speaker; Excellent English writing and editing skills; knowledge of
environmental and conservation issues; Computer skills: Microsoft Word,
Excel; facility with the internet and email; Organizational skills:
attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks
simultaneously; Communication skills: ability to communicate well and
efficiently with authors, artists, editors, and others.
