Community Mobilization Director--Tbilisi, Georgia
The Mercy Corps Georgia program is a four year USAID funded Umbrella Grant
to reduce human suffering in targeted communities by enhancing vulnerable
communities' capacities to meet their needs, increase capacity to deliver
health and other services and more active participation of vulnerable groups
in the economy.
The Community Mobilization Director (CMD) is a senior level position, and is
responsible for the management of six field offices, approximately 50 staff,
all aspects of the community mobilization component of the program,
including technical integrity, monitoring and evaluation efforts, and
documentation and report writing. As part of a team approach the CMD is also
responsible for assisting in the development of strategies for the NGO
Grants and Social Policy components. The Community Mobilization Director
plays a primary role with regards to representation of the program with
donors, local government, USAID and other international agencies. In
addition, the Community Mobilization Director is the Acting Chief of
Party/Country Director in the absence of the Chief of Party/Country
Director.
A Master's or higher degree in social science, development or a related
subject and 5 years experience in civil society, relief or development
program design and implementation is required, along with a strong
understanding of community development and general development principles.
Familiarity with USAID regulations, demonstrated attention to detail,
ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines and work cooperatively with
team members are required. Knowledge of Russian or Georgian is preferred.
