Senior Program Officer, Latin American Programs

Freedom House is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that promotes liberty
and democracy throughout the world. It seeks an engaged U.S. foreign policy;
evaluates human rights conditions; sponsors public education campaigns;
facilitates training and other assistance to promote democracy and free
market reforms; and provides support for the rule of law, free media, and
effective local governance.
Freedom House is seeking a Senior Program Officer for its Latin American
programs, which seek to assist in the strengthening of democratic leaders
and institutions in the region. The principal responsibility of the Senior
Program Officer will be to assist the Director of Programs in development,
implementation and management of Latin America programs, including its
Mexico and Cuba programs.
The ideal candidate will have five years of experience in program
management, as well as design and implementation of projects in Latin
America in the areas of democracy assistance, civil society strengthening,
or human rights.  Fluency in English and Spanish, excellent communication
and organizational skills, and the ability to travel are required.
Knowledge of USAID funding sources and a master's degree in international
development or a related field preferred.
