The 2002 Annual Report of the Eurasia Foundation is available online at
http://www.eurasia.org/AR/2002/annual.html. In the last fiscal year the
foundation made grants of $13 million and helped launch more than 600
projects--some of which are described in the report. The cover letter by
Foundation president Charles William Maynes discusses the revival of the
tradition of philanthropy in Russia, taking special note of the foundation's
recent partnership with Mikhail Borisovich Khodorkovsky, head of the YUKOS
Oil Company, that resulted in a gift of US$1 million from YUKOS to Eurasia
Foundation in order "to promote community and private sector development in
rural Russia."
The Annual Report can be viewed online in its entirety or in any of its four
parts: Russia, Central Asia, Caucasus and Western NIS.
