The majority of Russians (88%) have never used the Internet, according to a
poll by the Public Opinion Foundation. The poll, which questioned 3,000
Russians over 18 years old, found that of those people who had never used
the Internet, 64% had no desire to learn how to use it. This figure was much
lower among young people: 36%.
12% of Russians have used the Internet at least once. 5% access the Internet
at work and 4% at home. People with higher education are the most likely to
have used the Internet (38%). As a rule, Internet users access the web
fairly regularly: a quarter of them (one-quarter of 12%, or 3%) said they
had used the Internet within the last 24 hours; 2% had used it during the
last week; and 3% had used it at least once during the last month.
