             Ecojuris Fellowship Program

Ecojuris, a nonprofit environmental law protection organization
in Moscow, has announced that it will offer two fellowships which
focus on citizens' ecological rights protection from October
1996 through February 1997. The Ford Foundation has provided
funding for the program, which will cover lodging and stipend for
interns.

The training program includes:

* intensive curriculum in environmental law and adjacent law
subjects;
* strategy and skills of legal proceedings;
* citizens' participation in environmental decision-making;
* rights of citizens and non-governmental organizations to
information;
* analysis of laws and legislative drafts;
* classes on computer skills, Internet resources and English.

Training courses will be conducted by Ecojuris lawyers
experienced in teaching, research, law-drafting, and legal
practice, and specially invited professionals. Interns will
attend consultations, negotiations, law suits by Ecojuris, and
trials. They will learn to prepare law cases, collect and
analyze legislation and cases of legal practice. Students would
conduct their own research and participate in Ecojuris seminars.

Contact Ecojuris at the address below for more information or to
request an application form. References and recommendation
letters from ecological and law protection NGOs are encouraged.

Application deadline is August 30, 1996. Late applications will
not be considered. Application materials will be reviewed by an
independent admission committee, which includes representatives
of ecological and law protection NGOs, university professors,
judges, and attorneys. Results will be announced by e-mail and
to each applicant personally by the mid-September.
