*EDUCATIONAL AND CULTURAL EXCHANGE PROGRAMS IN RUSSIA*
In our continuing expansion of our Russian-language section, we have
recently added a list of cultural and educational exchange programs for
citizens of the NIS. The exchanges are broken down into four different
categories: academic, professional development, summer institutes, and
programs in the arts and humanities. The Russian language section's home
page is at http://solar.rtd.utk.edu/~ccsi/russian/russpage.htm
*ASI NEWSLETTERS*
CCSI has begun posting excerpts of the Agency for Social Information's
electronic newsletter in Russian. (Agentsvo Sotsialnoi Informatsii) The
excerpts will include the table of contents and selected articles from the
entire document. Contact information for ASI is available with every
issue. This section is also available through the Russian language home
page listed above.
*WHAT KIND OF SUPPORT DOES RUSSIA REALLY NEED?*
Recently, Mariana Markova, who worked in the Doctors without Borders
office in Moscow, stopped by the CCSI office to discuss her views on the
work being done by non-profit and grassroots organizations in Russia
today. When we posed this question to her, she spoke of the need for
direct technical support. We have a brief synopsis of what kind of aid
she thinks would be of the greatest benefit to the Russian people today as
well as an example of this kind of work from CCSI's own guestbook. Both
can be accessed through the Announcements page under the "What's New at
CCSI" section. http://solar.rtd.utk.edu/~ccsi/announce.html
