Subject: Dubinka
In connection with a research project I am involved in, I am looking for
information about the "Dubinka," a lead-core rubber truncheon. I work for
an NGO that defends the rights of Gypsies, many of whom have met a Dubinka
or two in circumstances they considered inappropriate. Nobody remembers
having seen one before 1985, which is why I thought to check civilsoc to
see if anyone might have some information.
I am especially interested in when it was introduced in Ukraine, and how
the technology and weaponry carried by the police has changed over the
past, say, 15-25 years. If you are able to provide concrete information,
or even just general impressions, please contact me:
Thanks very much in advance,
Claude Cahn
