**NGO Roundtable - APRIL**
The next meeting of the NGO Roundtable will be
held on Friday, April 25 at 16:00 (4:00 pm) in the 2nd
floor conference room of the MacArthur Foundation.
This month's meeting will feature a presentation by
Liudmila Alekseeva, chairperson and founding member
of the Moscow Helsinki Group. Established in 1976 by
a group of Soviet dissidents, MHG is the oldest human rights
organization in Russia. Ms. Alekseeva will talk about
the activities of the Moscow Helsinki Group, and she will
give an overview of the human rights movement in the
former Soviet Union. Also, Ms. Alekseeva will discuss
the issues which she believes to be most pressing on the
human rights agenda in the FSU at the present time, and she
will explain the many changes which have occured within
the human rights movement since the break-up of the Soviet
Union.
The Moscow Helsinki Group is a Special Project grantee
of the MacArthur Foundation's Initiative in the Independent
States of the Former Soviet Union.

As usual, we welcome announcements on behalf of your
organization and its programs. Please contact the Foundation
by Friday morning if you would like to be added to the agenda.
If you would like to distribute materials at the meeting, be
sure to bring a sufficient number of copies. There are typically
30-35 people at each meeting.
