INTERNSHIP HOST ORGANIZATIONS REQUIRED FOR THE
YOUTH INTERNATIONAL INTERNSHIP PROGRAM!!
Under the Youth International Internship Program, sponsored by the Canadian
Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Human Rights Internet
(HRI) is
looking for host organizations for 24 young Canadians. These Canadians
are university graduates who want to work in the field of human rights,
social justice and democratic development. Internships are for six
months (Aug 97 to Jan 98) and interns will receive an allowance for travel
and living expenses from the Canadian Government..
It will be the responsibility of the employer to:
1. work with HRI to design an effective program for their intern (one
that will meet the training needs of the intern as well as the
substantive needs of their own organization;
2. supervise the work of the intern during their stay;
3. provide the intern with appropriate facilities (computer, desk, phone,
etc.) needed to conduct their work;
4. help the intern find suitable accommodation and take an interest in
their welfare, especially in environments that may be difficult, whether
from a cultural, political or physical (health) perspective;
5. evaluate the work of the intern and adapt the program as it evolves,
especially at the midpoint and the culmination.
If you and your group would like to host an intern and are able to accept the
responsibilities listed above, please submit a request outlining your
