Subject: Biointensive Minifarming seminar in Siberia

        Biointensive Sustainable Mini-Farming Workshop
            Akademgorodok, Novosibirsk, Siberia
                   August 18-20, 1997

Russian-speaking applicants are invited to apply to attend the 3-
day seminar on Biointensive Sustainable Mini-Farming to be co-
taught by Larissa Avrorina, Educational Director of Ecodom Inc.,
Akademgorodok, Siberia, and Carol Cox, Research Manager at Ecology
Action, Willits, California and co-author with John Jeavons of
LAZY-BED GARDENING.

The seminar, reflecting Ecology Action's Three-Day Workshops but
also including some information on Ecodom's homebuilding program
and on Russian agriculture, offers extensive information on
Biointensive Mini-farming appropriate to a more self-reliant
lifestyle and for work in developing countries. The program will
consist of lectures, discussions and demonstrations, and will
include a full range of information on Sustainability and
Efficient Resource Use, Crops and Diet, Fertilization, Compost and
Compost Crops, Soil Preparation and Preservation, Seed
Propagation, and Income, as well as the perspective to tie all
these together.

Only serious gardeners willing to teach or research the method
should apply. Applicants must be prepared to research and TEACH
AND DEMONSTRATE the Biointensive method to others in their own
areas. Participation will be limited to 40 serious applicants, so
apply early. Publications in Russian on Biointensive will be sent
to those who apply and are accepted in time.

Participants will be expected to find their own travel funding. We
may be able to provide some funding for a limited number of
applicants. If you would be unable to attend the seminar without
funding help, please include with your application a short travel
budget and your request to be considered for a small grant.

Americans or Russians able to help with travel funding are also
encouraged to write us, expressing their willingness to support
the travel of one or more participants. (This could range from
$100-500 or more.)

To receive an application form contact either Carol Vesecky
<[email protected]> or Larissa Avrorina <[email protected]> as
soon as possible. If necessary Russians can contact Avrorina by
