INFORMATIONAL MEETING
The International Research & Exchanges Board (IREX) will be
holding an informational meeting to answer questions about the
second round of the USAID-funded "Sustaining Partnerships into the
Next Century" (SPAN) grants competition. The goal of the project is
to support, deepen, and expand existing partnerships bet en U.S. and
Russian organizations in several sectors, including finance, business
development, energy, environment, health, and tax reform.
The meeting will be held on February 18, 1998 at:

Time: 18:00
The deadline for submitting proposals for the second round
is March 6, 1998. All existing partnerships between U.S. and Russian
institutions and organizations that can demonstrate the success of
their past and current projects are encouraged to apply. No previous
USAID funding is required. All applicants must pr ide matching
contributions equaling 25% of the USAID contribution, which carries a
$180,000 per-project funding cap. Special consideration will be given
to applicants committed to matching contributions in the 50% range
and higher and also to proposals re esting less than $140,000.
