                       Teach English in Chita

Musical Bridges, Inc., a Vermont-based non-profit corporation promoting
cultural exchange, is seeking teachers of English to travel to, live in
and teach in Chita, Russia and/or cities in Chita Oblast for the school
year beginning September 1, 1998 through June 1999. You would be among
a handful of Westerners living and working in the city and oblast.
Teachers are requested by two universities in Chita. Other sites may be
as consultant to Chita public school system English teachers. You would
be employed by the host institution (or city) and receive room and a
standard teacher's salary from them. Musical Bridges would provide
funds covering travel to and from Chita and your home city in the U..S.,
a small stipend to supplement the meager Russian salary.

Requirements:

- at least a BA or equivalent from an accredited institution
- articulate with good writing skills
- imagination and creativity as they pertain to developing course work
  and working in the classroom to achieve teaching goals
- initiative, ability to work independently, ability to get along
- adventurous spirit and open mind

Rules and Regulations:
- Applicant must hold an American passport
- Applicant must be age 21 or over
- Applicant must be of sound physical and mental health to the extent
  that :
    * the applicant is up to the rigors of travel and living in a remote
      place and different culture
    * neither hampers the applicant's ability to carry out the agreement
      between the teacher and the Chita institution

Recommended but not required:

- Knowledge of Russian language
- Background in teaching English as a Foreign Language
