EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY IN MOSCOW
The Carnegie Moscow Center, a public policy research organization and
representative office of the Washington-based Carnegie Endowment, seeks an
Assistant Director for Communications. The individual will work closely
with the Center's Director and Deputy Director and take primary
responsibility for managing the publications program and public relations
functions of the Moscow office. Applicants must be fluent in Russian and
English.
Main Responsibilities:
- Manage publications process (principally Russian-language): keep a
schedule of planned publications, determine format, oversee review process
and assist in editing for content, conclude contracts and work with
printers, supervise distribution process;
- Develop and oversee production of a newsletter (in English and Russian);
- Manage press and public relations: write press releases, direct press
inquiries, disseminate information about the Center, build up a network of
media contacts, supervise distribution of Carnegie materials, and respond to
general queries about the work of the center;
- Provide the Director and Washington administration with updates on program
activity, and assist in preparing grant proposals and reports for funders;
- Establish/maintain Carnegie contacts with representatives from Russian and
foreign research organizations and occasionally represent Moscow Center at
official functions;
- Overall responsibility for upkeep of Moscow Center library
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years relevant work experience in editing and publications
required, public relations experience preferred;
- Work experience in Russia essential;
- Master's degree (or equivalent) preferred;
- Excellent writing and communication skills;
- Demonstrated management skills;
- Knowledge of Word for Windows, Excel, and Pagemaker
