           INTERNATIONAL PROGRAM STAFF ATTORNEY

The Center for Reproductive Law & Policy (the CRLP) is a non-profit
legal and policy advocacy organization dedicated to promoting women's
reproductive rights. CRLP's domestic and international programs
engage in litigation, policy analysis, legal research and public
education seeking to achieve women's equality in society and ensure
that all women have access to appropriate and freely chosen
reproductive health services. The central mission of our
international program is the achievement of enforceable reproductive
rights and accessible reproductive health care for women around the
world.

Responsibilities: The Staff Attorney will be responsible for legal
and policy analyses of reproductive rights issues in Eastern and
Central Europe, the Commonwealth of Independent States and Baltic
nations. In particular, the Staff Attorney will: conduct general
legal and policy research; develop a legal framework for reproductive
rights as international human rights; undertake and supervise
overseas collaborative projects in this European region that are
either legal or policy oriented; analyze the manner in which U.S.
laws and international policies impact women's reproductive rights in
this European region; draft reproductive rights related submissions
in multilateral contexts; represent the organization in
international, regional, and national fora; and engage in extensive
public speaking. Significant international travel required.
Responsibilities also include supervision of regional projects,
consultants and staff.

Qualifications: Juris Doctor or equivalent foreign law degree
required. The candidate should have at least 4 years of legal
experience, preferably in international human rights law. Expertise
in Eastern and Central Europe, the Commonwealth of Independent States
and Baltic nations required. Knowledge of women's rights is
important, as is expertise in reproductive rights or women's health.
The candidate must possess excellent writing, editing and oral
skills, be a resourceful researcher and be capable of working
efficiently under pressure. Fluency in English required and
knowledge of Russian or a regional language is preferred. Experience
in project and personnel supervision a plus. Salary commensurate
with experience.
