MICROFINANCE ADVISOR - Former Soviet Union
Counterpart International, Inc., a Private Voluntary Organization founded in
1965, is currently seeking applicants for a Microfinance Advisor for a
microcredit program in the former Soviet Union. The Advisor will work in
Counterpart's local office for two years and will provide the local
organization with the technical assistance necessary to institutionalize a
microfinance program. Primary responsibilities will include: assess the
current microcredit program procedures and management mechanisms, make
recommendations on areas for improvement and expansion, establish
appropriate fiscal controls and management information systems to ensure
program effectiveness, train local staff in all areas of program design and
management, provide consultations to clients and local entrepreneurs, write
proposals and reports for donors, and liaise with local/international
organizations, government ministries, and private sector business persons as
appropriate. Requires: microfinance experience and a masters degree in
business, finance or economics or 5-10 years economic and/or organizational
development experience in international environment. Prefers: Russian and/or
regional language skills; experience working overseas, especially in the
former Soviet Union or in a region characterized by transitional or
inflationary economies. Must be U.S. citizen.
