10 July - 3 August 1999 Cost: $1600 all inclusive**

4-7 August optional extra 4 days in St Petersburg, add $250

1. ECOLOGY FIELD RESEARCH CAMP - Mammals, Botany, Amphibians, Fish

Students from European and American Universities studying Ecology, Zoology,
Botany, Biology, take part in the field research projects of Russian Senior
Research Scientists from the Urals Institute of Ecology of Plants &
Animals. They live with the scientists and students from Urals University
in a camp on a lake in a beautiful, remote area of the South Taiga Forest,
mid-Urals, equipped with a field laboratory. A great opportunity to work
with professionals plus lectures and extensive practical teaching. Students
are encouraged to work on their own research projects.

1) Animal Ecology:

Population Ecology of Mammals: Dr Fedor Kryazhimsky.
Fish and Water Pollution: Dr Alexander Lugaskov.
Amphibians-urban ecology: Dr Vladimir Vershinin.

2) Ecology of Plants: Geobotany and Lichenology - Dr Margarita Magomedova

2. ARCHAEOLOGY & PALEONTOLOGY EXCAVATION in the URALS, RUSSIA **Cost: $1600

A unique opportunity for Archaeology and Paleontology students to join
excavations in the Mid Urals. During this 3-week long camp they will be
under the supervision of Dr Alexander Borodin, Senior Research Scientist,
Dept. of Paleontology, Urals Institute of Ecology, Russian Academy of
Science,Ekaterinburg, Russia.

Each year a small group of students join Dr Borodin and other Paleontology
and Archaeology research scientists to enjoy a unique experience of working
in the field in a remote part of the mid-Urals in Russia. They live in a
remotely situated camp working closely with the scientists and their teams
on an ongoing cave excavation. The scientists also offer lectures and an
extensive practical teaching programme. Students will visit Ekaterinburg
and Moscow, with an optional extra 4 days in St Petersburg with other
British Ecology students. Maximum 10 students.

** All Prices include: Return Airfare from London to Moscow, internal
travel in Russia, visits to Moscow & Ekaterinburg, Tuition, Accommodation
and Food. Travel Insurance, Visas & Museum entrance extra. Students who
fly direct from USA to Russia may deduct $350.
