>From the Transnational Crime and Corruption Center:

On Monday October 1 Professor Louise Shelley of American University
and the Director of the Transnational Crime and Corruption Center
will appear on the History Channel's new series "Organized Crime: A
World History."  The two shows that Dr. Shelley will appear in are
"Sicily," which will discuss the Sicilian Mafia, and "Russia," which
will address the fall of communism and the rise of a new mob class is
the former Soviet Union. The programs will air at 9PM and conclude at
11PM (EST) on Monday.
Dr. Shelley is an expert in Russian Organized Crime and will appear
during these shows. We urge all of you to take a look at the History
Channel Monday October 1 at 9PM.

SYMPOSIUM ON TRANSNATIONAL CRIME TO BE HOSTED BY TraCCC
On October 11, 2001 TraCCC will host a symposium at American
University from 4pm-7pm. Three major topics that will be addressed
