Responsible to: NIS Alumni Coordinator for the Freedom Support Act
Future Leaders Exchange Program

Date Available: December 17, 2001
American Councils for International Education administers the Freedom Support Act
Future Leaders Exchange (FSA FLEX), an exchange program for high school students
from the NIS sponsored by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the
US State Department. Participants of the program live in American host families
and study in US high schools for one academic year. The FSA FLEX Alumni Office

volunteer, career development, and democracy-building activities. There are currently
almost 9,000 alumni throughout the NIS and the Alumni Office is looking for assistance
to support this dynamic program.
Position Description
An assistant is needed to compile and edit monthly alumni activity reports submitted
to the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. The intern helps edit the quarterly
alumni newsletter The Bradley Herald, maintain correspondence with the 21 American
Councils field offices, and plan and implement activities with Moscow alumni.
The position offers a chance to improve writing and editing skills, learn about
NGOs in the NIS, and work with bright ambitious young people. Travel is not required
but may occasionally be possible for an intern who is interested. This position offers
valuable work experience: real responsibility, a chance to improve Russian language skills,
and interesting work with great young people in Russia and across the region.

 Ability to work independently
 Based in Moscow
