TITLE: Webmaster, IREX/Washington
REPORTS TO: Senior Communications Officer
POSITION LOCATION: Washington, DC
ABOUT IREX:
IREX is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to the advancement
of knowledge. Central to its mission is the empowering of individuals and
institutions to participate meaningfully in civil society. IREX administers
programs between the United States and the countries of Eastern Europe, the
New Independent States, Asia, and the Near East. IREX fosters excellence in
services to internal and external customers and encourages all staff to
continuously improve the systems and processes that are essential to our
work.
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
IREX seeks applicants for the position of Webmaster with an emphasis on
content development.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary responsibilities include the following:
� Edit and/or rewrite content and post to the IREX web sites on a
daily basis
� Proactively review sections of the web sites for periodic updating
� Coordinate with DC and field staff regarding maintenance of relevant
sections of the web sites
� Lead effort to unify content and standardize all of IREX's web sites
� Have primary responsibility for ensuring promotion and content
accuracy of IREX's web sites
� Perform additional writing, editing, graphic, and administrative
tasks as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must be detail oriented, well organized, able to work
independently, skilled at prioritizing and handling multiple tasks, and able
to adhere to deadlines. Other specific qualifications should include at a
minimum:
� Skills in HTML coding, Dreamweaver, CSS, Photoshop, and Acrobat
necessary; Experience in ASP, JavaScript, streaming multimedia, web site
database integration, and dynamic web content a plus
� Experience editing and writing materials specifically for use on web
sites
� Broad editing/writing experience with other types of promotional
materials
� Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
� Ability to work in a team environment
� Knowledge of computers and relevant software (MS Office, Excel,
etc.)
� BA or equivalent experience
� International experience, especially in the NIS and CEE, desirable
