TITLE: University Administration Consultants

ABOUT IREX: IREX is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to the
advancement of knowledge. Central to its mission is the empowering of
individuals and institutions to participate meaningfully in civil society.
IREX administers programs between the United States and Eastern Europe, the
New Independent States (NIS), Asia, and the Near East.
SUMMARY OF POSITION: IREX seeks consultants to develop and give training
programs in basic university administration and management principles such
as:
� Operations management: budget design and management, business
planning, facilities management, human resource management, organizational
development, project management, quality assessment and assurance,
management ethics, research management and administration, information
technologies management, and standardized testing;
� Strategic planning: integrating research and teaching, fostering
academic freedom, lobbying for education legislation, acquiring
international accreditation, partnering in international exchanges,
long-term planning, and board of trustees management and leadership;
� Fundraising and outreach: alternative fundraising methods, alumni
relations, community relations, corporate relations, government relations,
grant writing, foundation development, and international relations; and
� Faculty and student services: admissions management, adult education
programs, distance learning, faculty association building, faculty
recruitment and retainment, student association building, student
recruitment, and student services such as career development, study abroad
opportunities, and extracurricular activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidates should possess:
--Substantial experience in one of the university administration fields
described above;
--Demonstrated experience designing and providing interactive training
seminars;
--Experience working with institutions of higher education in the former
Soviet Union and Eastern Europe;
--Knowledge of Russian is preferred, but not required.
